Real Horn Earrings, created with precision skill by talented artists whose local tradition for centuries has been making carved horn earrings. Each piece is carefully crafted one at a time, by hand from selected natural horn of the South-East Asian Domestic Water Buffalo. These large animals are used for plowing fields and carrying heavy loads, and are treasured and cared for into old age. In recent years too many jewelry producers have started harvesting the buffalo horn, making them rare and difficult to get, as well as victim to poaching and theft. Although we still have this collection of Buffalo horn earrings, we no longer produce them in regards to the unregulated over-harvesting of this precious and much needed and loved animal, for fear of poor practices by those who provide the horn to us. The traditional organic farming practices that use the buffalo are beautiful and becoming more and more rare as global changes take our world. The earrings we offer here are all made of horn harvested previous to 2016. Please get what you want soon, for we will not make any more of these precious earrings until the practices of other producers improve enough to protect this sacred animal that brings beauty and health to our world and people.

How to put tribal post earrings on:
Gently hold the horn earring around your ear lobe. Insert the post so it is through both the front of the earring and into the opening of your ear piercing. Twist the post and gently and insert it through your piercing and the back of the earrings, wiggling it slightly until it finds its way through. Make the post feel snug, but not to tight. Please don't try to force them. The posts should be snug to the jewelry, but not jammed in. Be gentle.
Care of your natural jewelry:
Horn is very much like your hair or fingernails in nature, and requires care. The horn earrings need to be conditioned, and should be oiled for protection. This will maintain the color and preserve the shine and smooth surface. You should clean the horn earrings as needed with a very mild soap, dry them well, and condition them with jojoba oil or another organic jewelry care product. Taking care of your natural jewelry every month of wear will help them last a lifetime. Please don't store your horn earrings in direct sun, damp or wet places, or places that are extremely hot, they can warp, curl or crack from extreme conditions, and cannot be repaired if that happens.
